Should we be taking Supplements?
We should all be mindful of eating a healthy and nutritious diet, throughout our entire lives. Generally if we are eating the correct food - Wholefood - Fresh Vegetables - Fresh Fruit we should be able to get all of the organic vitamins and Minerals we need from plants and animals. However some of us need a little more help and this is where Supplements come in.
There is no substitute for a healthy balanced diet but some of us do benefit from the following supplements.
Vitamin D (Vitamin D helps maintain strong and healthy bones by retaining calcium)
Magnesium (antioxidant necessary for the growth, development, and repair of all body tissues)
Epsom salt Baths - magnesium sulphate (way to supplement your magnesium levels, as the magnesium is absorbed through your skin. It also helps to soothe tired and aching muscles and cramps.
Omega 3 (Omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids, health benefits, Healthy heart and blood, brain power, skin health, healthy eyesight, lessen inflammation)
Iron (feeling tired and no energy? ask your GP to test you for Iron and iron deficiency known as anemia. We need twice as much Iron than men, due to menstruation, especially if you have heavy periods)
Vitamin E (antioxidant-anti inflammatory, boosts immune system)
Calcium (for bone health and so much more)
Vitamin C (antioxidant necessary for the growth, development, and repair of all body tissues)
When looking into taking supplements it is always advisable especially if you are other medication to discuss this with your GP.
It is also really important to take good quality supplements. These will come at more of a cost. I am very fussy with what brand I take because I want the most natural and best quality going into my body.
Its simple eat good whole foods , with plenty of fruit and veg and add those good quality supplements if required and after speaking with your GP.
Lots of Love
